Job Description

Based in Twyford, Berkshire our recently acquired client is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their team in a permanent role working on a hybrid basis 2-3 days in the office.

This job would suit an experienced all-round accounts assistant or bookkeeper to be responsible for supporting the finance function with various accounting tasks and office administrative duties to ensure accurate day to day accounts and reconciliations are put in place so the management accounts and analysis can be done by others.

It is expected that the accounts will take half of the week with the other half needed in the office to support various office and operational duties and acting as holiday cover for other roles.

This specialist business provides efficient solutions to customers' domestic problems, operating across operate across Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire with plans to expand further. The company has been acquired recently and sits alongside another company in the Group (based in Bristol) with this person looking after the accounts for both businesses but being Twyford based. There is an individual in both businesses responsible for the invoicing.

The successful individual will have a strong background as an accounts assistant or a bookkeeper type role and ideally have a good understanding of Xero software although this isn't essential. Strong understanding of accounting processes and procedures is important with a confidence in bank reconciliations. The candidate should have effective communication and organisational skills with the ability to achieve targets whilst maintaining accuracy.

Duties will include:

  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded
  • Facilitate banking transactions and reconcile bank statements
  • Maintain and update financial records and ledgers
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date files and records
  • Management of the Xero filing system
  • Supplier invoice processing and payments
