Job Description

Based in Watford, Hertfordshire our successful client is seeking a qualified accountant to join their growing team as Financial Reporting Manager on a 15-month fixed term contract.

This job would suit an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant to play an integral role in leading the financial reporting function, providing coaching, support and challenge to enable development of 3 direct reports. You will drive improvements across the financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy while building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

The business is one of the UK's fastest growing hospitality groups with hotels, restaurants, and property amongst the portfolio with ambitions to grow the group event further, this would be an ideal time for someone ambitious to join the team in this newly created role.

The successful individual will be an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified and have the ability to bring a commercial outlook to the role such that deliverables add value and insight to the business. They will have great attention to detail, with good analytical and numerical skills. For this role you will need to be a confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Strong technical accounting and taxation knowledge is also essential. Hospitality experience would be an advantage.

Job responsibilities:

  • Statutory audits completed within 5 months of the year end, and all corporate tax and VAT compliance completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review and support in preparation of the year-end and audit processes.
  • Oversight of an accurate 12 month rolling cash flow forecast produced on a weekly basis.
  • Review (and support in preparation where needed) accurate and timely reporting of management information to our external banks, along with bank covenant reporting.
  • Oversight of the internal Capex process and project spend for the various developments across the Group
  • Strong and trusting relationships established with all key stakeholders, including the wider finance team, internal Heads of Department, HMRC, external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, effectively present ideas and turn them into practical actions.
  • Lead initiatives on continuous improvement of Financial Reporting and support wider group goals and initiatives.
  • Responsibility for balance sheet control ensuring 100% compliance of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance of internal controls.
    Keep abreast of UK accounting and taxation legislation enabling the group to remain fully compliant in respective areas.
