We are proud to announce that on Tuesday 16th November 2021, we will be hosting our 10th Finance Director Leadership event (1st since the start of the pandemic). The event titled ‘Finance Meets Sustainability’ will take place at Ashridge Business school in Berkhamsted.
We’ve had a number of employers asking us about the trends we are hearing from the market regarding Sustainability and ESG.
In the main, UK PLC has begun to focus on this key topic and Nicola Stopps, with her awarding winning sustainability consultancy business, has an impressive corporate client base so will be sharing what they are seeing in the market. Time will come shortly where the SME businesses will need to put more time and attention into this critical part of their business.
Having said that, less than a handful of these PLCs have devoted a specialist in finance to commit their time to understanding and driving this change – most have spread the responsibilities to wherever it falls across the finance function. Pleasingly though, we have one of these unique finance specialists in Edward Stillion from Diageo discussing the hands on and real considerations that he has found in his role.

Like all parents, Edward wants to provide the best possible future for his children, but climate change means that the future is looking increasingly uncertain. Not content with simply addressing his own footprint, Edward wants to drive change through his work and he sees huge potential in the roles Finance functions can play in enabling businesses to transition to a sustainable future.
Being passionate about sustainability and driving change, Edward has arguably landed his perfect job. He is responsible for placing a financial lens on sustainability at Diageo by helping the business understand the risks and opportunities it faces because of climate change, understanding what it will take to deliver sustainability goals and defining how finance can be a lever to drive change in the organisation.
Edward has 13 years finance experience covering Innovation, Commercial Finance, FP&A and now Sustainability. Most recently, Edward’s work in Innovation included leading the financial development on product launches such as Gordon’s Pink Gin, Rockshore Irish Lager and Guinness 0.0% and he was responsible for systemising Innovation planning across Europe & Asia Pacific regions.
