Job Description

Based just outside Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, our manufacturing client is looking for an experienced all round accountant to join them as Finance Manager.

This job would suit a good all round accounts professional who is looking to work in a family owned SME to assist in the general preparation of the various subsidiary and branch accounts. The role has occurred due to the retirement of another member of staff elsewhere in the accounts team which has resulted in the Finance Director needing an extra paid hands to help them.

This family run business is based in the UK, but with global coverage, and hosts the finance and back office functions for the entire business on site in the outskirts of Aylesbury. There are operations in a number of European countries as well as others further afield. These are generally small sales based offices processing sales orders which are then dealt with, shipped and accounted for in the UK. The business works with outsourced partners in other areas of the world to cover over 50 countries globally.

The successful individual will be looking for a varied accounting role in a small finance team and will be willing to put their hand to anything when needed. This isn’t a role that is going to offer huge progression, and the Finance Director is not expecting to move on any time soon, so this individual will be someone who wants to become part of a business helping drive its success in the future. No particular qualifications are needed and qualified by experience (QBE) accountants are welcome to apply.
Previous experience of and willingness to get involved with everything from Purchase and Sales Ledger through to VAT, monthly management accounts and year end accounting will be critical to be successful in this job.

Duties will include:

  • Daily input of cash to sales ledger for UK, export and branches from bank statements
  • Entering of branch purchase invoices on purchase ledger
  • Ensuring branch purchase invoices passed for payment on timely basis
  • Monthly bank reconciliations for branch bank accounts
  • Compiling information for branch VAT returns and ensuring submission of returns and payments made by required deadline
  • Balance sheet reconciliations of branch VAT accounts
  • Export credit control
  • Liasing with branch offices with regard to local credit control and monitoring aged debt
  • Compilation of month end result statements for branch offices
  • Co-ordination of year end filing requirements for branch offices
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for holding company, including issuing of quarterly rent invoices on a timely basis
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for recently acquired small subsidiary
  • Providing cover in absence of Accounts Office Administrator in relation to UK cash collection and purchase ledger
